About the Facilitator
Michele has been a teacher for the past 16 years, and during that time, she has worked in the Aboriginal Education field, both in schools at the University of South Australia. Michele believes in the power of authentic relationships and that respect, kindness and empathy will provide schools and school staff to work towards closing educational gaps for First Nations students. As well as teaching, Michele works with the school and Early Years team to implement Indigenous perspectives in their teaching and learning programmes, build authentic connections with First Nations students and their families, create meaningful Reconciliation Action Plans, and develop staff Cultural Awareness across sites. Michele takes a holistic approach in her programmes, as she believes that (re)educating the whole person to understand students and Indigenous perspectives is truly essential. Through education and understanding comes growth and acceptance.
